Liberty Party divided over support to Leaders of Collaborating Political Parties (CPP)

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The opposition Liberty Party (LP) is in glaring division over support to key political leaders within the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP).

The arrival of Alexander Cummings of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, showed the glaring division, as the Executive Committee, headed by Chairman Musa Bility, was in thick of the ANC Leaders’ arrival.

The Political Leader of the LP, Senator Nyomblee Karnga Lawrence, and her cohorts failed to attend the welcoming ceremony of Mr. Cummings, because of their support to the Unity Party’s (UP) Joseph Boakai.

The key political actors in the CPP, Ambassador Joseph Boakai and Mr. Alexander Cummings have been at loggerheads over who heads the ticket of the Party, ahead of the 2023 General and Presidential Elections.

Madam Karnga-Lawrence had earlier advised supporters to stay away from the event, but her plea was ignored as supporters trooped in to welcome Mr. Cummings back home.

Meanwhile, several persons believed to be supporters of the ANC Political Leader are said to be in serious condition, after a tragic motor accident along the Monrovia-Roberts Field Highway.

Reports said an unmarked vehicle carrying supporters collided with a truck around the Yellow Building Community along the highway, and are said to be receiving treatment at the ELWA Hospital in Paynesville City.
