MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Justice, is set to enter litigation with Circuit Courts Judges over their application for declaratory judgement.
It followed legal argument at the Civil Law Court Tuesday, November 9, 2021, on the Judges latest action seeking to include the National Legislature as party to their application against the Government, over the slashing of their salary.
About twenty Circuit Judges filed a four count motion last month, to add the National Legislature as a party to their previous Petition for Declaratory Judgment.
However, ELBC Judicial Reporter said Solicitor General Cyrennius Cephus gave no objection to the latest application by the Judges, thus setting the stage for litigation at the civil law court.
The Judges also referenced the New Judiciary Law, which provides that salaries of Justices, Judges and Stipendiary Magistrates, should be fixed by statute and should be provided by annual budgetary appropriation.
The case is expected to resume pending notice of assignment.
