MCSS Teachers go on strike…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Teachers of the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS) have embarked on a go-slow action, to draw the Liberian Government’s attention to their concerns.

The striking MCSS Teachers want Government address a six-count petition, before returning to the class rooms.

The MCSS Teachers are calling for the restitution of monies cut during the harmonization exercise, salary stabilization and pension benefits, among others.

The MCSS Teachers Association President, Augustine Nyormui, said:” The strike action will continue until our demands are met.”

Meanwhile, MCSS Superintendent Adolphus Jacobs said the action of the striking teachers is untimely, calling them to abandon the strike and return to work.

The Leadership of the MCSS Association is due to hold meetings with Authorities of Government to address the teachers’ concerns.
