MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has reaffirmed the efforts of the Liberian Government to ensuring citizens are lifted from poverty to prosperity, through employment opportunities.
President Weah said:” Poverty reduction and economic empowerment for citizens have been my longtime dream, even when I served as Senator of Montserrado County.”
The Liberian Leader said that it is against that backdrop, as then Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Youth and Sports; he sponsored the ratification of the Youth Opportunities Project that supported thousands of Liberian youth.
According to an Executive Mansion release issued over the weekend, President Weah spoke at the launch of the Recovery of Executive Activity for Liberian Informal Sector Employment (REALISE) project in Monrovia.
The release said President Weah stated that the launch of REALISE project should stand a strong signal of the Administration’s determination to empower Liberian citizens.
He then praised the REALISE initiative, stressing that the many needs of Liberians can be better addressed through initiatives that involved the people themselves.
The three years project is expected to be implemented by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Liberia Agency for Community Empowerment (LACE).
