Monrovia, Liberia – The Chairman of the governing Coalition for Democratic Change is calling for stiffer punishment for individuals convicted for rape in Liberia.
Mulbah Morlu wants the Ministry of Justice to lead a process that will ensure convicted rapists undergo medical and chemical procedures to reduce their sex drive.
Chairman Morlu said the CDC has a zero tolerance for rape and will support the legislation of any move intended to end the culture of impunity for rapists in the country.
He was speaking Thursday evening in Monrovia when he declared the CDC’s support for the planned Anti Rape March for Justice scheduled from August 25th to the 27th.
The CDC Chairman said the party was supporting the non-political initiative because of the havoc and abuse Liberian women continue to be subjected to daily.
