MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Bhofal Chambers, is calling on anti-rape campaigners to stop their ongoing protest in Monrovia.
Speaker Chambers said the National Legislature has taken seize of the matter, and will work along with the Executive to institute appropriate actions to remedy the situation.
Speaking to ELBC Thursday, August 27, 2020, Dr. Chambers said: “There was no need for the ongoing street protests, after the submission of a petition to the National Legislature by anti-rape campaigners.”
Speaker Chambers disclosed that necessary medical equipment to facilitate the fight against rape and other domestic violence are being secured.
Scores of Liberians have taken to the streets in the past three days, in protest against the increase in rape cases in the Country.
