MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Authorities of the Liberia Telecommunication Authority (LTA) want the public remain calm as engagements continue with Mobile Network Operators, to reverse their decision to increase mobile services.
On Thursday, October 9, 2020, Liberia’s top Mobile Network Operators, including Orange Liberia and Lone Star Cell MTN, introduced drastic increase in mobile services, citing the implementation of surcharge regulation imposed by the Liberian Government.
But speaking to ELBC Thursday, October 8, 2020, LTA Acting Chairperson Edwina Zarkpah accused the Mobile Network Operators of not allowing the entity to review their packages before the implementation of the surcharge regulation.
According to Madam Zarkpah, technicians at the LTA are analyzing whether the companies are adhering to a twelve-hour ultimatum given them to cancel the increase in mobile services.
She assured the public that the LTA is taking the necessary actions to have the mobile companies reduce the price of mobile services.
