MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has joined other world leaders in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, to pay their last respect to the late former Ghanaian President, Jerry John Rawlings.
Mr. Rawlings, President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana, died on November 12, 2020.
The funeral is expected to take place on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Ghana’s International Conference Center.
An Executive Mansion release issued Tuesday, January 26, 2021, said President Weah left the Country early Tuesday via the Roberts International Airport, and was received upon arrival by Ghana’s Minister of National Security, Albert Ken Daapah.
According to the release, the Liberian Leader is being accompanied by Foreign Minister Dee-Maxwell Kemayah, Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie, Minister of State Without Portfolio Trokon Kpui and Maritime Authority Commissioner Eugene Nagbe.
While the President is away, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Nathaniel McGill, will chair the cabinet in consultation with the Vice President, Jewel Howard-Taylor.
