Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson Koijee says it is about time leaders reawaken the drive of Unity and Peace within the Mano River Union (MRU).

Mayor Koijee said the MRU Countries of Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and Ivory Coast can achieve greater things with a stronger regional integration.

The Lord Mayor said he has already initiated the idea at the mayoral level with his Counterparts from Freetown and Conakry.

According to him, such a bond will soon be consummated at a planned meeting in Freetown.

He was speaking Monday at a cultural evening organized by the City Government as part of the Monrovia Day celebrations.

Meanwhile, Freetown City Mayor Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr said they are determined to start deepening and strengthening the relationships between the cities within the MRU.

Madam Sawyerr said there is so much that Freetown and Monrovia can learn and share in the interest of the two cities and people.
