Cllr. Joseph Nagbe issues Alternative writ of Prohibition on certification of Lofa Senator-elect Brownie

MOMONROVIA, LIBERIA – Supreme Court Justice in Chambers, Cllr. Joseph Nagbe, has officially issued the Alternative writ of Prohibition on the certification of Lofa County Senator-elect Brownie Samukai.

According to our Judicial Reporter, the decision means that Associate Justice Nagbe will listen to the merit of the case and decide on the matter.

Our Judicial Reporter said if Mr. Samukai’s legal team is not satisfy with any decision by Justice Nagbe, the matter could be forwarded to the Full Bench of the Supreme Court.

Last week, the Movement for Progressive Change filed a writ of Prohibition on the certification of Senator Elect Brownie Samukai, on grounds that he is a convict.

Associate Justice Nagbe assumed the right to hear the matter following a conference with the two parties at the Supreme Court Tuesday, March 9, 2021.
