MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) has been granted four licenses in the areas of generation, transmission, distribution and system operation.
The licenses were presented Tuesday, March 9, 2021, to the LEC by the Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC).
Speaking at the ceremony, LERC Board Chairman, Dr. Lawrence Sekajibo said:” The move is in line with the 2015 Electricity Law of Liberia.”
According to Dr. Sekajibo, the granting of the licenses is to ensure affordable and stable supply of electricity in the Country.
In response, LEC Chief Executive Officer Prishottman Govender described the process as a milestone in the energy sector of Liberia.
