Liberia Revenue Authority wants officials; public sector employees pay Real Property Tax

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) is reminding all elected and appointed officials and public sector employees of their obligation to pay Real Property Tax.

In a press statement issued Wednesday, April 7, 2021, the LRA said:” Despite repeated requests for compliance, many officials and public sector employees have reneged on this responsibility.”

It said tax payment is a civic duty for all Liberians, especially for officials and government employees that are beneficiaries of State resources.

The LRA has given up to July first this year, for all officials of Government and public sector employees to clear their Real Property Tax obligations.

The LRA has tabled several remedial actions if officials failed to meet the July First deadline, including restrictions on duty-free privileges enjoyed by public officials and publication of names of delinquent officials.

The release also reminded public officials that taxes are required to promote the Pro-Poor Agenda, pay salaries, and provide essential services, including national security.
