MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Military Police Unit of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) has presented its preliminary report on the rape and sexual abuse case against dismissed Training Commandant, Col. William Nyankun.
The allegations were contained in a formal complaint filed against Col. Nyankun by an AFL soldier currently serving in Mali.
In his communication, the officer complained that his sixteen-year-old daughter was repeatedly abused sexually by the Training Commandant.
Speaking in an ELBC interview Monday, May 10, 2021, Assistant Defense Minister Sam Collins said:” The report is currently before the AFL Chief of Staff for his review.”
Minister Collins said:” The AFL High Command will ensure that recommendations from the report are implemented in line with standard procedures.”
He wants Liberians to maintain their confidence in the AFL, as it remains a force for good.
