Gbarnga to be lighted up soon

by Jonathan O. Grigsby, Sr

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s Minister of State for Presidential Affairs has attributed the installation of solar lights in Gbarnga to the coming of the West Africa Power Pool from neighboring Nimba County to Bong County.

Minister Nathaniel McGill’s clarification comes following an appeal from citizens of Bong County to President George Weah, for the installation of the lights.

Holes for the planting of light poles had since been dug, but not a single pole is planted, something which drew concerns from citizens of the County.

But Minister McGill has promised the people of the county that about three-hundred-poles are available for Gbarnga, and will be planted at the end of the month.

He said:” We want to plant in Gbarnga the same lights that are planted in Monrovia and its environs.”

Gbarnga should have been lighted with the West Africa Power Pool last month, but the official switching on is expected to be done by President George Weah, before the July 26 celebration.
