MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Liberian Health Authorities have alarmed over the increasing number of new variant of Covid-19 cases in Liberia.
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Francis Kateh said over the last few weeks, the Incident Management Team has recorded more than five hundred cases, putting the country at high risk.
According to Dr. Kateh, last week, health authorities recorded two hundred fifty six cases while one hundred ninety one cases have been recorded this week as of June 15.
Speaking at the MICAT Press briefing Thursday, June 17, 2021, Dr. Kateh reminded citizens about how the first outbreak of Covid-19 peaked at this time of the year in 2020.
He wants Liberians and foreign residents to adhere to all preventive measures including the compulsory wearing of facemasks and constant washing of hands.
Meanwhile the Chief Medical Officer has disclosed that a number Asians who were undergoing treatment a local facility have reportedly died.
Dr. Kateh said the Ministry of Health was still investigating and subsequent announcement will be made to the public.
