LFA Exco Calls for Extra-Ordinary Sitting to amend LFA Statutes….but Senior Female Pros reject…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Executive Committee of the Liberia Football Association has called for an extra ordinary congress.

The LFA Executive Committee at its June 30, 2021, meeting agreed to conduct an extra-ordinary sitting, to address couple of issues before the elective congress next year.

The LFA EC has proposed an amendment to the Football Statutes to increase the number of women league teams from seven to ten in the top division.

The Committee also wants a change of election date to be approved by Extra-Ordinary Congress.

The Football Stakeholders are due to conduct election in April 2022, in keeping with the LFA Constitution, but the Executive Committee wants the time change to September 2022.

According to the LFA EC, it wants the election time push to September 2022 because it was in September 2018, that the President of the LFA was elected after dispute in April 2018 delayed his election.

Besides the LFA President, the Twelve- Executive Committee Members were duly elected in April 2018, but the run-off in the presidential race was pushed to September, because of a dispute.

Meanwhile, female Club Senior Female Professional FC has spoken against the holding of the Extra-Ordinary Congress.

Senior Female Professional in a communication to the LFA said the planned extra ordinary congress runs contrary to the intend of the Football by-laws.

The Club said making amendment to the football constitution few months to elective congress is intended to influence votes in favor of members of the executive committee.

Senior Female Professional is also against changing the date of the elections.

The latest issue has opened debate among football stakeholders in Liberia.
