NIMBA COUNTY, LIBERIA-Some Citizens of Nimba County have petitioned the Liberian Government to approve the application for Mineral Development Agreement filed by Solway Incorporated.

Solway Incorporated is a mining company that was issued license by government, to carry out exploration on the Blei and Delton mountains in the county.

The company recently filed an application for Mineral Development Agreement with the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

Citizens of the proposed concession areas want government approve the application, because it is a Liberian owned mining company that has the expertise to do mining in the County.

The citizens said since the company started its exploration in their communities, it has had a very good working relationship with them.

The petition of the Citizens was submitted to the Nimba County Legislative Caucus over the weekend.

Receiving the petition, Nimba County District Two Representative, Prince Tokpah, thanked the citizens for the petition and promised to take it to the Chairman and the rest of the Caucus members for review.

In another development, Representative Prince Tokpah wants the draft fiscal budget prepared in a way that will see a trickle-down effect on all sectors.

Representative Tokpah wants the budget particularly take into account, basic services to rural dwellers across the Country.

The Nimba County Lawmaker said: “The national budget should be able to address the infrastructure problem in the rural areas, and that it should make significant impact on the ordinary people in order to improve their lives.”

The Nimba County Lawmaker stressed the need for the improvements of schools, hospitals, and other public facilities and services in the Country.
