MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Port Authority (NPA) has initiated discussions with stakeholders on the reduction of tariffs and other charges, at the Free Port of Monrovia.
The move followed talks with President George Weah at the NPA Tuesday, October 27, 2021, where he held talks with Managing Director, Bill Twehway, on the issue.
The Liberian leader believes such reduction will have a positive impact on the prices of basic commodities on the local market, and alleviate hardship on the ordinary people.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Mr.Twehway quotes the President as saying the decision is in the best interest of general public, as it will relieve the end users of the stress associated with the high cost of trade and commerce.
The NPA Boss said:” Modalities are currently being worked out for a Stakeholders meeting with APM Terminals and the Ministry of Commerce, to effectuate this latest move by President George Weah.
