Rep. Jury calls for enactment of Bill prohibiting Human Sacrifice

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Maryland County Representative Mike Jury is calling for the enactment of a bill prohibiting human sacrifice in Liberia.

In a communication to the House of Representatives Thursday, October 28, 2021, Representative Jury sorted the amendment of Chapter 14 sub –chapter ‘A’ of the Penal Law, thus creating 14.5.

Honorable Jury said the Liberian Constitution, among other things, guaranteed the rights to life and free movement.

He said:” Human sacrifice, mostly ritualistic, is a mounting concern to law enforcement agencies, human rights organizations, among others.”

The Maryland County District One Representative added that the law, if amended, will ensure that perpetrators and accomplices face life imprisonment.

Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has forwarded the instrument to its Judiciary Committee to report within two weeks.
