MONROVIA, LIBERIA-More than seven-thousand Liberian Refugees residing at the Buduburam Refugee Camp, in Gomoa District, Ghana, are expected to be repatriated beginning January next year.

The Head of the Liberian Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC), Festus Logan, said:” The voluntary exercise will be undertaken jointly by the Commission and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) Office in Ghana.

Speaking Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the regular MICAT press briefing in Monrovia, Mr. Logan said the decision followed a recent visit to Ghana by a Liberian delegation.

He said prior to the pending repatriation, more than four-thousand Liberian Refugees have since returned home, while more than two-thousand have been integrated into Ghanaian Communities.

The LRRRC Head clarified that no Liberian is in detention in Ghana, as it is being wrongly reported in some quarters.
