Pres. Weah calls for review and reform at Public Procurement and Concession Commission

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah is calling for a review and reform process at the Public Procurement and Concession Commission (PPCC), to improve its effectiveness.

President Weah said:” The reform process is central to Government‘s quest in bringing integrity to the overall governance process of the Country.”

The Liberian Leader said his administration is working to ensure that the already scarce resources of the Country are effectively and judiciously managed, for the benefit of all citizens.

President Weah was speaking on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, when he officially opened the Third Annual Procurement Forum organized by the PPCC, at the Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, outside Monrovia.

The Liberian Leader stated that the Government has also been working, over the years, to ensure all contracts and concessions signed are prepared in accordance with law.

President Weah encouraged participants at the forum to do all that they can to bring integrity and efficiency to the procurement process.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer of the PPCC says the forum seeks to derive at strategies, to increase national compliance towards procurement laws.

CEO Jargbe Roseline-Kowo said:” The responsibility of national compliance does not rest on the shoulders of the PPCC but every citizen, including stakeholders.

Atty. Roseline-Kowo also expressed the urgent need for public entities to work together to achieve transparency and accountability, by being compliant to procurement laws.

She described President Weah’s presence   at the forum as a manifestation of his support to the PPCC laws.
