by Maximilian K. Kasseh jr

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) is expected to bring in additional four-billion Liberian Banknotes in mid-February, this year.

The CBL Director of Banking, William Jlopleh, said:” The money is intended to kick-start the replacement of mutilated banknotes from circulation.”

Mr. Jlopleh said:” The CBL will use commercial banks to carry out the exercise in line with their reserve profile, and will collect old banknotes deposited at those banks and destroy them.”

He spoke Wednesday, January 26, 2022, on the ‘Money Matters’ on the ELBC Radio.

It can be recalled that in November last year, the Central Bank of Liberia brought in the first four-billion Liberian Dollars, primarily to ease the liquidity problems often occasioned by the festive season.
