MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Former National Investment Commission (NIC) Chairman is to face a new trial at Criminal Court ‘C’, for economic sabotage, theft and misuse of public money.
Defendant Natty Davies was earlier acquitted of theft of property and misapplication of entrusted property by jurors.
But following jurors’ verdict, State Prosecutors headed by Cllr. Jerry Garlawolo spread a submission to investigate the jurors and subpoena their call log.
Cllr. Garlawolo told the court that they believed the form and manner in which the jurors voted in their deliberation room was unprecedented.
But Judge Ciapha Carey denied prosecution submission; saying to investigate jurors there must be evidence to show that they were tempered with and not on merit speculations.
Findings from a General Auditing Commission (GAC)’s report accused Mr. Davies of misapplying over one-million United States Dollars, while serving as Head of the NIC.
