MARYLAND COUNTY, LIBERIA-Normal academic activities have been brought to a standstill at the Tubman University in Harper, Maryland County.
It comes as ongoing strike action by the Tubman University Faculty enters its second week.
The faculty wants the university administration explain the matrix used in the salary harmonization process, to understand the level of disparities in their take home pays.
The TUSA President, Francis Fukah, is also demanding an increment in instructors’ salary to meet up with current economic realities.
In an ELBC Tuesday, March 1, 2022, Mr. Fukah accused TU President Dr. Elliott Wleh Wilson of diverting the university’s budgetary allotments to his personal use.
He maintained that the faculty’s decision to disengage from all academic activities will remain in place until their demands are met.
Meanwhile, the President of Tubman University, Dr. Elliott Wleh Wilson says he has no control over the demands of the striking faculty.
Dr. Wilson told ELBC that the faculty has failed to follow the rules governing strike action.
He said:” President George Weah has already constituted a new board headed by the University of Liberia President, Dr. Julius Sawolo Nelson.”
The TU President then expressed the hope that the striking faculty will listen to the new board, and do what is right for the institution.
