MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberian Senate has summoned the Ministries of Gender and Justice to provide clarity on the alarming wave of rape cases in the Country.
It followed a communication from Grand Bassa County Senator Nyumblee Karnga-Lawrence.
According to Senator Lawrence’s communication, the Ministers of Gender and Justice should provide update on challenges in creating awareness and the enforcement of the rape law.
The Grand Bassa County Lawmaker also wants the ministers to provide comprehensive report on rape cases, programs and recommendations in curbing the menace.
She said:” It appeared like the both ministries are not doing much in creating awareness on the rape law, thus leaving several women victimized.”
Meanwhile, the Ministers of Gender, Children and Social Protection and Justice are expected to appear on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.
