MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Coordinator of the Pro-Poor Agenda has underscored the achievements of the Country’s National Development Plan.
In an ELBC interview on Monday, April 11, 2022, Mr. Benedict Kolubah named infrastructure development, health, education and service delivery as areas where Government has made tremendous progress.
Mr. Kolubah added that roads are being constructed across the Country, while maternal mortality rate has also been reduced drastically.
He attributed progress being made in all sectors to the strong collaboration of Government and her development partners.
The Pro-Poor Agenda for Development and Prosperity National Coordinator also disclosed that Monday’s review of the PADP was to highlight major achievements and point out the way forward in meeting other targets.
At the same time, the Pillar Head on Health under the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development says maternity mortality has significantly reduced in Liberia.
Until now, Liberia has been one of the worse places for child bearing mothers and infants globally.
Mr. George Jacobs said maternal mortality has now dropped from 10.42 percent to 4.4 percent.
But he explained that despite the significant reduction, Liberia still has the highest rate of maternal mortality in the sub-region.
He said:” Under the PADP, a significant reduction was achieved through increasing pregnant women’s access to health facilities and maternal health service.”
