MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has launched what is seen as the biggest plan upon which hundreds of At-Risk-Youth are to be rehabilitated and empowered in the Country.
President George Weah launched the national fund drive on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, outside Monrovia.
The program, President Weah said, will cause Government and partners thirteen-point-nine-million United States Dollars to be implemented.
The Liberian Leader, on behalf of Government, committed one-million USD as an initial amount to the fund drive.
He urged all citizens home and abroad to support the effort which, according to him, is crucial to the peace and stability of the Country.
President Weah said:” Realizing that the neglect of At-Risk-Youth poses serious threat to society and the security of the State, we decided to take a robust approach to address the situation.”
The Liberian Chief Executive also publicly kicked against calling of disadvantaged youths ‘zogos,’ stressing the important need of addressing substance and drug abuse.
Thursday’s launch of the National Fund Drive for the Rehabilitation and Empowerment of At-Risk-Youth is being held under the theme:” Reclaiming Our Youth for a Better Liberia”.
