Gov’t asks family of late Princess to make formal request for deceased body

by Francis Pelenah Jr,

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Justice, is calling on the family of the late Princess Cooper to write officially requesting the body of their daughter.

The family had earlier made a public announcement, requesting the body to have it buried, saying that they longer trust the outcome of any autopsy.

But addressing a press conference at the Ministry of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) Wednesday, July 20, 2022, in Monrovia, Deputy Justice Minister for Codification, Cllr. Nyenati Tuan, said since the public pronouncement, the family is yet to inform the Government formally.

Cllr. Tuan said:” Though Government trusted autopsy conducted on the late Princess Cooper, it remains determined to satisfy the doubts of the family by conducting another autopsy.”

Meanwhile, Information Minister Ledgerhood Rennie said:” Government does not have interest in shielding anyone found criminally culpable in Princess Cooper’s death.”

Minister Rennie said while Government is not stopping anyone from being critical about issues, people must be truthful in their thinking.
