MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor has launched a formal two-year Dental Therapy training course.
The course, under the proposed Liberia Dental Therapy School, will train more professionals across the country.
Speaking Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at the program, Madam Taylor said:” The school will help fill the gap of insufficient dentists in the country.”
Giving an overview of the program, the Principal Dentist at the Trinity Dental Clinic, Dr. Simon Stretton-Downes, said the course will be taught by eight trained Dental Therapy Practitioners (DTP) by July 2024.
He said:” Graduates of the two-year course will be awarded certificates in partnership with Cuttington University.”
The beneficiaries from Lofa, Bong, Grand Gedeh and Maryland Counties will be trained to further provide services to people from the rural areas.
He also disclosed that a total of one-million United States Dollars is needed for the Dental Therapy School.
