Central Bank launches nationwide awareness on currency reform…

GBARNGA, BONG COUNTY, LIBERIA-The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) has announced the launch of a major nationwide awareness on the currency reform process.

The CBL says the kick-off will take place today Thursday, September 1, 2022, in Gbarnga, Bong County.

Speaking on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, on ELBC Money Matter program, the Chairman of the Currency Awareness Committee, Francis Wilson, said:” The Bank has designed numerous strategies to avoid misinformation about the new banknotes and coins.”

Mr. Wilson further said the September 1, 2022 launch sets the pace for the CBL’s engagement with all political subdivisions of the Country.

The national awareness is expected to run up to 2023, with several town hall meetings planned by the Bank.

Meanwhile, the CBL has reassured the public that the new currency will arrive not later than the last week of September, and infusion of the banknotes begins in the first week of October.
