MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Chairperson of the National Elections Commission (NEC), Davidetta Brown-Lansanah, has affirmed the use of National ID cards and other relevant National identities for the upcoming voter registration.
The voter registration is expected to commence on December 15, to March 17, 2022 across the Country.
Madam Brown-Lansanah told ELBC recently that the use of NIR Cards, passports and vouching for one’s citizenship is in compliant with Chapter Three of the new elections law.
She said:” The law gives the Commission the right to use various means, including birth certificates from two other registrants.”
Regarding the alleged duplication of NIR cards, the NEC Boss said:” The Commission is concerned, promising to work with the National Identification Registry to address those security concerns.”
Madam Brown-Lansanah said there are other means through which the NEC is capable of detecting frauds, and verifying the nationality of those coming for voter registration.
