MONROVIA, LIBERIA-An agreement to focus on climate change adaptation and to strengthen local capacity for disaster risk reduction, has been signed between the Embassy of Sweden and the Swedish Red Cross.
The agreement is aimed at building local capacities in the areas of Health and Disaster Risk Reduction in twelve communities in River Gee, Sinoe and Grand Kru Counties.
According to a release issued recently, the three-year Development Cooperation Agreement, which started in January 2023, will run up to December, 2025.
Under the agreement, the Embassy of Sweden will provide support through the Swedish Red Cross for the Liberian Red Cross to implement, “The Green, Inclusive and Resilient Liberian Communities Project.”
The Liberian National Red Cross will not only support these communities to adapt to climate change, but will ensure that the communities are resilient to disaster risk and are agents for sustainable development.
