Federation of Liberian Youth Calls for Nat’l and Political Actions to End Female Genital Mutilation

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY) is calling for serious national and political actions instituted to end Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in Liberia.

FLY says it is time that all sectors of the Country join hands in permanently in ending the issue of FGM and advance women’s rights and political participation in Liberia.

The Secretariat Head of FLY, Duku Jallah, will, on today, Monday, February 6, 2023, stage a special forum to discuss FGM.

According to Mr. Jallah, the forum will bring together young men in politics and activism to talk about pathways to making FGM a central issue in the upcoming Presidential and Legislative Elections.

He said:” The organization is seriously concern about the issue of FGM and wants it advance as a topical issue, during the 2023 elections.”

The gathering will form part of activities commemorating International Day of Zero Tolerance on Female Genital Mutilation.
