Nat’l Accreditation Orientation Workshop Ends…..

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-A one day National Accreditation Orientation Workshop for Assessors of nursing schools and hospitals has ended in Monrovia.

The training was organized by the Liberia Board of Nursing and Midwifery, in collaboration with the West African Post Graduate College of Nurses and Midwives.

The Registrar of the Nursing and Midwifery Board, Cecelia Kpangbala-Flomo, told ELBC over the weekend that the training will lead to a nationwide assessment for nursing, midwifery schools and hospitals in the Country.

Madam Kpangbala Flomo said:” The assessors were trained in basic knowledge in verifying and detecting fake credentials and substandard nursing and midwifery schools.”

Also speaking, the Board Chairman, Humphrey Lowell, said the Nursing and Midwifery Board has worked over the years to ensure an ill-free nursing in the Country.

Meanwhile, the participants lauded the Liberia Board of Nursing and Midwifery for organizing the workshop.

According to them, the training was intended to identify and weed out substandard nursing and midwifery schools.

In an ELBC interview over the weekend, one of the participants, Sarah Kollie, said:” We acquired new method to inspect nursing schools in line with international best practice.”

Madam Kollie urged her colleagues to uphold the standards of the assessment, as they begin inspecting nursing schools and hospitals offering nursing trainings.

For her part, Madam Ramatha Kogar of the West African Post Graduate College of Nurses and Midwives said the training is in line with international best practice.
