Criminal Court “A” Acquits Trafficking in Person Suspect

by Fabine W. Kwiah

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Jurors at Criminal Court “A” on Monday acquitted suspect Sowa Zubah on allegation of trafficking in person, after a year in detention.

Nine of the twelve Pena Jurors claimed that pieces of evidence adduced by Prosecuting Lawyers were insufficient to convict suspect Zubah for trafficking in person, while three jurors voted for conviction.

In February 2022, Suspect Sowa Zubah, along with a lady identified as Sarah, induced and influenced victim Lisa Mangha to hand over a certain amount of money to transport her to Oman, the Middle East.

The victim said:” Upon my arrival in Oman, Sarah seized my document, including my passport, where I was subject to degrading and inhumane treatment by individuals I worked for.”

It can be recalled that Labour Minister Cllr. Charles Gibson confirmed that each prosecuting lawyer will receive ten thousand US Dollars for each Trafficking in Person case in the Country.
