MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Claims by the opposition Unity Party (UP) Standard Bearer, Joseph Boakai, of being “Rescue One” has been described as a contradiction and an affront to Liberians.

The Chairman of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Special Committee for Strategy and Engagement, Eugene Nagbe, says:” Such claim cannot be real because Ambassador Boakai once squandered taxpayers’ monies in the previous government”.

Mr. Nagbe said over thirty-five million United States Dollars was allotted annually to the office of the former Vice President, including twenty million dollars incremental budget,  but was misused.

Mr. Nagbe told ELBC Super Morning Show on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, that Mr. Boakai has only lived in luxury by diverting public funds for personal aggrandizement.

The CDC Stalwart said:” The UP Standard Bearer cannot pose himself as rescuing citizens when he had the opportunity for twelve years to improve their lives”.

Meanwhile, Mr. Nagbe has termed an insignificant series of stage-managed endorsements of the UP Standard Bearer.

He said historical records show that endorsements have not landed anyone in the Presidency.

The CDC Executive said endorsing a particular political candidate does not guarantee a successful win in elections, noting that it is rather based on visible achievements.

Mr. Nagbe maintained that the recent endorsement by Grand Bassa County Senator, Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence was unimportant to the entire process.

Mr. Nagbe has also boasted of President George Weah’s Administration targeting more infrastructural developments as opposed to the previous Unity Party Government in which Mr. Boakai served as Vice President.
