by Zoquay Beysolow-Konneh

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Internal Affairs Ministry has given a three-week ultimatum to the Management of ArcelorMittal-Liberia to address the concerns of the people of Grand Bassa County.

The ultimatum followed a meeting held with the Minister of Internal Affairs, Varney Sirleaf, aggrieved Citizens of the County, and the Management of the Company.

The aggrieved citizens have been staging a series of protests in demand of better working conditions, and to maintain the washing plant of the company in Buchanan, as opposed to Yekepa, in Nimba County.

Meanwhile, Minister Varney assured citizens that the Liberian Government is doing everything possible to address the matter; normal working activities in the Company’s operational areas have been rocked by several protests in Yekepa, Nimba County, and Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.
