Foreign Minister Qin Gang Hails Africa’s Mutually Rewarding Ties with China

Beijing, May 26, 2023 – The State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Peoples Republic of China, Qin Gang has hailed the friendly ties and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Africa.

Minister Qin said such friendship continue to be demonstrated by closer exchanges from leaders on both sides including various activities held between China and African countries.

Qin called for greater cooperation and unity between China and Africa. He was speaking at a reception to commemorate Africa Day in Beijing.

He also stressed the importance of cooperation between China and Africa in the international community as the two sides has become an important force in safeguarding international justice and equity.

He pointed out that China has been Africa’s largest trading partner for 14 consecutive years, and the two sides have jointly built more than 10 thousand kilometers of railways and nearly 100 thousand kilometers of roads.

The State Councilor and Foreign Minister also highlighted China’s involvement in the construction in a large number of airports, Sea ports, bridges, power stations and other important infrastructure on the continent.

QIN GANG AT AFRICA DAY

Minister Qin believes those crucial development interventions have played important roles in promoting economic and social development as well as improving people’s livelihood in Africa.

The Chinese Foreign Minister wants China and African nations to safeguard each other’s legitimate rights and interests, and to further strengthen mutual support on issues concerning sovereignty, development and dignity.

Mr. Qin said there should be greater synergy between the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, to help Africa accelerate industrialization, localization and economic diversification.

Thursday marks 60 years since the establishment of the Organization of African Unity, the predecessor of the African Union.
