MARGIBI COUNTY, LIBERIA-President George Weah has described the endorsement of Liberia’s candidacy as a Non-Permanent Member of the United Nations Security Council as a milestone achievement for his administration.

President Weah said:” The process followed days of lobby by the country’s delegation at the ECOWAS Council of Ministers’ meetings in Guinea Bissau.”

The Liberian Leader noted that the history made at the meetings will further strengthen the country’s stance on issues of peace and security.

President Weah, however, said:” I remain optimistic that the election of Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, as ECOWAS Chairperson will yield tangible results for the sub-region.”

He noted that his administration will work along with President Tinubu in realizing the goals of ECOWAS amongst member states.

President George Weah spoke on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Roberts International Airport (RIA) in Lower Margibi County, upon his return to the country.
