by Maximilian K. Kasseh jr

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has reaffirmed Government’s commitment to fulfilling its international obligations on human trafficking.

President Weah said:” My administration will continue to ensure the prevention of trafficking in persons, the protection of victims, and the prosecution of perpetrators of the menace.”

The Liberian Leader’s reassurance message was contained in a special statement in observance of International Day against Human Trafficking.

He said:” My Government has made unrelenting strides to address and eradicate human trafficking throughout and within the borders of Liberia and continues to do more, as a national obligation.”

The Liberian Leader, however, noted that there are still several key areas Government needs to improve on and would welcome more concerted support efforts by its partners to ensure the fight against trafficking in persons is extended all out.

Meanwhile, President Weah expressed appreciation and confidence in the National Anti-Human Trafficking Taskforce chaired by the Minister of Labor, co-chaired by the Justice Minister, as well as other members, including the Foreign Affairs, Health, Internal Affairs, and Gender Ministers.
