Pres. Weah expresses Disappointment in Former Vice President Joseph Boakai…

by Francis Pelenah Jr,

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-CDC Standard Bearer, President George Weah, says he has lost respect for former Vice President Joseph Boakai, because of the lies he told in 2011 of leaving the country’s leadership with the younger generation.

President Weah told residents of Di Strict 10 Thursday, August 10, 2023, that the former Vice President is not a man of his word.

He questioned the former Vice President’s failure to uphold his promise and commitment not to actively participate in politics beyond the 2011 elections.

President Weah said:” The commitment was made in 2011 during a meeting involving me, former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, and Ambassador Joseph Boakai.”

It came at a time when former President Sirleaf turned to the group and pleaded for peace, noting that they were approaching their sunset and needed to leave the country’s leadership in the hands of the younger generation.

President George Weah said:” The former Vice President, Joseph Boakai, at the time agreed, but has now reneged on his promise and commitment.”

At the same time, the CDC Standard Bearer has assured residents of Peace Island in Montserrado County District 10 that he will engage the relevant agencies of Government to ensure they get rightful ownership of land in the community.

President Weah said he will engage the Liberia Land Authority on behalf of the residents to ensure they get legal ownership of land.

President Weah said:” The land in question belongs to the Government of Liberia, and appropriate steps would be taken to extend legal ownership to squatters on the Peace Island.”

He said Liberians everywhere have rightful and legal ownership of land and assured the residents that he will make representation and intervention on their behalf.

The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Standard Bearer, President George Weah, spoke during a campaign tour of District 10 on Thursday, August 10, 2023, in Monrovia.
