MONROVIA, LIBERIA- Latest progressive results released by the National Elections Commission (NEC) have given the opposition Unity Party (UP) an early lead in the Presidential race.
UP Candidate Joseph Boakai has now collected fifty-seven-thousand-eight-hundred-sixty-two votes, constituting forty-seven point-two of seven percent of the votes counted so far.
He is followed by incumbent President George Weah of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) with forty-nine-thousand-five-hundred-ten votes, constituting thirty-nine point-six percent.
Liberia People Party’s Tiawon Gongloe is in third place with four-thousand-four-hundred-eighty-three votes, amounting to three-point-five, seven percent.
Thursday’s results announced by NEC Chairperson Davidetta Browne-Lasanah were collected from 392 of the 5,890 polling places, representing just 6.66 percent of the overall.
