MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Gender Minister Williametta Saydee-Tarr has assured Liberian women of the Government’s firm commitment to providing equal opportunities for all.
Madam Tarr said:” The Government of President George Weah has already demonstrated such commitment at all levels, including women’s political inclusion.”
She, however, said such a move can be solidified when women vote for the ticket of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), the only ticket with a woman Vice Presidential Candidate in the Run-Off Election.
The Gender Minister added that the Liberian Government has earmarked several impact-oriented programs for women, as part of a medium-term plan for President George Weah’s second term.
Minister Williametta Saydee Tarr spoke on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, during a mass gathering of women in Congo Town, in support of Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor.
For her part, Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor rallied Liberian women to stand up for each other during political contests.
Madam Taylor said:” Such a move will keep women at the table of national decision-making and strengthen the quality of actions from national government.”
She spoke in the presence of thousands of Liberian women who affirmed their support for her, ahead of the Presidential Run-Off Election, urging them to finish it up at the ballot box on November 14.
The ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) Vice Standard Bearer told the gathering that the need for more women leadership cannot be overemphasized, stating that nothing can be achieved without the involvement of a woman.
