Four Arrested in Connection with Alleged Beating, Stripping of Lady in Monrovia

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Four persons have been arrested in connection with the alleged beating and stripping of a lady in the Red Light Market area.

Video of the incident went viral with many condemning it and calling for justice.

Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, the Liberia National Police (LNP) Spokesman, Moses Carter, named the men as Emmanuel Cooper, Oldman Gayflor, Archel Zerpel, and Daniel Quelpul.

They have since been charged with criminal attempts to commit murder, aggravated assault, and robbery.

Meanwhile, the men are in police custody awaiting court trial, while the police are in search of other accomplices seen in the video assaulting the victim.

In another development, police arrested, investigated, and charged seven persons in connection to the destruction and vandalization of properties in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, on December 4, 2023.

Those arrested and sent to court are Peter Flomo, Solomon Broh, Steven Shar, Christian Teah, Leo Watts, Christian Manyah, and Promise Johnson.

The suspects have been charged with arson, manslaughter, theft, criminal mischief, and criminal conspiracy and rioting.
