MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberians on Monday joined millions of people around the world and celebrated New Year’s Day across the country, in appreciation of God’s unlimited goodness and mercies upon humanity.
A Foreign Ministry release issued said the celebration of the Day was in consonance with Chapter 25 of the 1956 Patriotic Cultural Observance Law of Liberia, declaring the first day of January each year as New Year’s Day to be observed as a National Holiday across Liberia.
Citizens and foreign residents observed the New Year with sober reflections characterized by political and socio-economic dimensions.
Other activities befitting the observance of the New Year included worship services held by the citizenry who also pleaded for God’s continuous and bountiful blessings and mercies upon the nation and people over the years.
