Supreme Court of Liberia Full Bench Entertains Legal Arguments…

by Fabine W. Kwiah

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Full Bench of the Supreme Court of Liberia will today entertain legal arguments between State Prosecutors and Unity Party Legal Team.

The arguments grew out of the Writ of Prohibition filed by the UP Legal Team to prevent the confirmation of Presidential Nominee, Cllr. Frank Musa Dean as Associate Justice.

However, the UP Legal Team on Monday, December 8, 2024, also filed another motion before the Full Bench seeking the recusal of Chief Justice Sie-A-Yuoh, ahead of the ensuing Prohibition proceeding.

The petition, according to ELBC Judicial Reporter, is seeking to prevent the Chief Justice from sitting in the determination of the Writ of Prohibition filed.

In a nine-count petition, the UP Legal Team alleged that Chief Justice Yuoh’s letter to President George Weah, granting Justice Joseph Nagbe’s early retirement request undermines Article 68 of the Liberian Constitution.
