President-elect Boakai Wants Unity Party Lawmakers Support Rep. Koon’s Speakership Bid

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President-elect Joseph Boakai has rallied Unity Party (UP) Lawmakers to support the Speakership bid of Representative Richard Koon.

Ambassador Boakai said:” Representative Koon is best suited to become Speaker of the House of Representatives, and I am calling on the incoming Representatives to vote for him in the ensuing Speakership election on Monday, January 15, 2024.”

According to UP National Secretary General Amos Tweh, Ambassador Boakai made the call on Tuesday evening, January 10, 2024, during a meeting with UP Lawmakers at his Rehab residence.

The President-elect also described Representative Koon as an experienced Lawmaker to lead the 55th National Legislature as Speaker.

The incoming 25th Liberian President also expressed his utmost desire and determination to work along with the 55th National Legislature to meet the aspirations of the Liberian people.

Meanwhile, Bong County Senator Prince Moye has described the meeting with President-elect Boakai as a traditional acquaintance to allow the new leaders to discuss issues of national importance.

Senator Moye re-echoed the determination of the UP and its alliances to ensure that they win the Speakership position at the House of Representatives.

He said:” Consultations have intensified to ensure that the Speakership bid of Representative Koon becomes a reality.”

According to Senator Moye, President-elect Boakai and the legislators have a shared vision for the nation and its people.

The Bong County Lawmaker also boasted of an overwhelming victory for the Unity Party in the Speakership election.
