Agriculture Ministry, Liberia Institute for Statistics and Geo-Information Services Launch Agriculture Census…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Ministry of Agriculture and the Liberia Institute for Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS), have launched the Country’s agriculture census to bridge the data gap in the Sector.

Data obtained from the census will be vital for effective planning and response mechanisms to improve agriculture in Liberia.

LISGIS Acting Director General Lawrence George said:” The census will cover all agriculture-related activities, including crop production, livestock, forestry and aquaculture.”

Mr. George further said:” The census will also target all agriculture establishments, cooperatives, agriculture concessions, and smallholder farmers, among others.”

The Acting LISGIS Director General added that the data collected during the exercise when analyzed, will improve the Country’s agriculture outlook and increase productivity.
