Armed Forces of Liberia Commander-in-Chief to Inspect Troops…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL), President Joseph Boakai, is expected to, for the first time, interact with the Army and inspect the troops at the official celebration of Armed Forces Day next week.

The celebration of the 67th Armed Forces Day takes place on Monday, February 11, 2024, under the theme:” Armed Forces Support to Democracy, the Role, and Responsibility of the AFL”.

Defense Ministry Director of Communication, Anthony Lander, said several local and international military personnel will be honored during the celebrations of Armed Forces Day.

The 2024 Armed Forces Day Symposium will take place under the theme: “Armed Forces Commitment to Sustainable Democracy in Contemporary Time”.

Meanwhile, UN Resident Coordinator, Christine Umutoni, has been selected to serve as Keynote Speaker for the 67th Armed Forces Day celebrations.

At the same time, the Ministry of National Defense has released the itinerary for the observance of the 67th Armed Forces Day.

This year’s celebration began on Sunday morning, January 4, 2024, with a 7.5-kilometer road run from the Catholic Hospital Junction to the Barclay Training Center in Monrovia.

Defense Ministry Director of Communications, Anthony Lander, said:” The Armed Forces Day Symposium will be held at the Ellen Johnson Ministerial Complex in Congo Town, next Tuesday.”

Mr. Lander also said a massive clean-up campaign in the Freeport area will be carried out by the Armed Forces, as well as medical outreach at the Gir-Yah Clinic in Bomi County.

Mr. Anthony Lander also said the official celebration of the 67th Armed Forces Day will take place on Monday, February 11, 2024, and falls on Sunday.
