Finance Minister Pushes for Stronger Partnership with UN System…

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Minister of Finance, Boima Kamara, is pushing for a stronger partnership with the United Nations System.

Mr. Kamara said:” The attainment of economic growth requires enhanced cooperation with potential partners, especially agencies of the UN.”

He spoke on Thursday, February 22, 2024, when the UN Resident Coordinator, Christine Umutoni, paid him a courtesy visit at the Finance Ministry.

Minister Kamara also provided assessment accounts of Liberia’s economic challenges to attract partners’ short and long-term interventions.

The Finance Minister, commenting on the current economic challenges, gave a picture of the complex fiscal hurdles the Nation faces under the ARREST Agenda of President Joseph Boakai.

Meanwhile, the UN Resident Coordinator, Christine Umutoni, has assured of the collective UN’s continued commitment, partnership, and support to transform the lives of Liberians.

Madam Umutoni expressed the need for coordination at the Government, UN, Development Partner leadership, and technical levels for positive results.

She acknowledged the request of the Liberian Government for support in implementing the one hundred-day Deliverables and developing the one-year and national development plan within six months.

The UN Resident Coordinator then added that the UN stands ready to work closely with the Liberian Government to support its efforts in economic recovery and sustainable development.
